  • What semiautomatic shotguns can be easily swapped between an 18.5 and 24-28 inch barrel?

So I want one semiauto shotgun that works for both home defense and for skeet shooting via a barrel swap.

I know mossberg sells a 930 field and home combo, but I’d rather purchase the 940. Unfortunately, they don’t sell replacement barres for the 940. The 940 comes in 18.5 tacticool or 24 inch but you can’t buy a standalone barrel.

The 1301 also has a field version and a defense version, but their barrels can’t be swapped.

Someone makes a barrel extender for a benelli m4, but I’m not sure if that’s even a great idea for skeet shooting.

Benelli M2 is probably the best gun available that meets your criteria.

A Benelli M2 is a good choice for that want.

Looking that up it seems pretty dumb, plus the M4 is a bad gun for skeet anyway.

I’d go with a 1301 Comp Pro and pick up an 18” barre for it. They’re pricey but well worth it.

But at these costs I would just pick up two guns. I don’t like interchanging parts anyway, set it up and forget it until it needs to be cleaned.

Another option is an 18” barrel that’s threaded for chokes (or modifying one for that). If your skeet shooting is just for fun, and your range allows it, you’ll be ok.

I’d recommend getting a Benelli M2 field and buy a spare 18.5″ barrel with chokes and sights. That’s what I have and it’s been working great.
Steoger, CZ, and a few other companies make knock off inertia shotguns but its not the same build quality , I had one and am much happier having spent a bit more on the M2.

Maverick 88 is the most economical and it’s often less than $300 and comes with both barrells.
