Depends what your fishing with, what types of lures? Finesse stuff i would go with a medium light power, fast action, thats 6.5-7ft. More crank baits or things with treble hooks, I would go medium light or medium power, medium action, anywhere from 6-7ft. Jigs or other soft plastic delivery devices that aren’t finesse, you’ll need a little more back bone so medium or medium heavy power, fast action, 6-7ft. If you want an all around do it all rod, go medium power, fast action, 6-7ft.

I run a 6’6 fenwick medium rod and a Shimano Sahara reel for smallies. Overkill for many but can handle anything big I luck into hooking

St Croix stuff is top notch. I’m looking for a similar rod for tighter rivers. I was looking at the 5′ 9″ St Croix Legend Tournament medium extra fast. Also looking at the eyecon series as they use the Bass X blanks but have a nice set of hardware attached.

I like all my Dobyns rods but they only go down to 6’6″ length.

Other brands to consider would be Shimano, Daiwa, or Abu Garcia.
