Posted by brian on August 6, 2022 at 12:02 pmI noticed the projectile on federal is bigger. Also the primer is different. Is this normal ?

GuestAugust 6, 2022 at 12:02 pmHornady’s is just 55gr ammo in a 5.56 NATO marked case. It’s not any of the military designated cartridges of 5.56 NATO.
Federal’s is, but they distinguish M193 rounds destined for civilian sales as XM193.

GuestAugust 6, 2022 at 12:02 pmWell, the hornady is a hollow points bullet, which means it’s not a milspec loading if it’s not a 77 grain bullet, and hornady doesn’t make a 77 grain bullet. The hornady round isn’t m193, it’s just 556

GuestAugust 6, 2022 at 12:02 pmHornady likes to seat their bullets super low for some reason. I reload a lot with their bullets and even the recommendations in their books are fairly low seated. It works totally fine though. There must be some benefit to doing it because my Hornady reloads are amazing accuracy wise.
