GuestMay 19, 2021 at 2:07 amI took the family out shooting yesterday and put 100 rounds through it. I had times where I would pull the trigger and it would seem to lad a full second before firing. It did seem to get a little better as I shot it but damn. I’m not real comfortable carrying it as it sits. Thinking about taking it apart and doing some polishing or ordering a new trigger assembly all together. Any suggestions from other owners is appreciated.
Edit: I should add that it’s very comfortable to shoot and carry concealed. It was very accurate for a short barreled gun and the recoil was very manageable. I’ll be very happy with it after fixing the trigger. I would buy again and recommend it. Cheers!

GuestMay 19, 2021 at 2:07 amI have a Micro 9, came with a very consistent if heavy trigger. After some work and breaking in I’m pretty happy with it. You may have something out of spec. Regardless of quality it should pull consistently each time.
[Edit]
Just pulled mine out to look closer. Mind you I’ve done a modest amount of polishing, and it has ~500 through it. According to my calipers, it has 0.075″ of travel at the bottom of the shoe, then about 0.050″ of creep (no noticeable ~~creep~~ [edit: meant to say:] stacking) before hitting the real wall. The wall is firm and noticeable, and then breaks at 3# 14oz almost to the dot, consistently. Roughly 0.075″ overtravel. Reset clicks quite loudly, and puts you right in front of the creep again.
If you are trying to compare this (or any other fire control group on the planet, frankly) with a well-tuned 1911, you’re going to be sad. But for what it is I’m pretty happy with those numbers. It’s a damn sight better than most stock striker triggers I’ve ever felt, with a few exceptions. You want shitty, come handle my FNS9, even after working the surfaces. Gritty, spongy 6.75# of workout.
I’ll repeat my suspicion that you have something faulty going on if you’re getting random delays and inconsistent trigger pulls.

GuestMay 19, 2021 at 2:07 amShould have gotten the Sig 938!
Worked at three different gun stores in college and still hold the same opinion that Kimber / their 1911s are overrated for the price. I appreciate the workmanship on their pistols just my personal opinion. Really just paying for the name.

GuestMay 19, 2021 at 2:07 amPerhaps a good, thorough cleaning and break in period will help? If that doesn’t help, send it to Kimber and see if you can’t get the trigger group replaced. It might be defective.

GuestMay 19, 2021 at 2:07 amHow do you fuck up so bad that a 1911 design has a shitty trigger?
